Good Friday

You have made it to the Friday before Easter Sunday, otherwise known as Good Friday. Good Friday is a day of reflection as it is the day where we pause to remember Jesus’ death on the cross. While “Good Friday” is not a term mentioned in the Bible, when studying the course of events that happened during Jesus’ final week before the Resurrection.

It may seem odd when you consider that the day we remember and reflect over Jesus’s death is the day that Christians refer to as “Good Friday.”…How can we think about someone suffering and consider that a good day. How can hear of how people criticized Jesus’ and lied on Jesus’ all while He remained focused and determined to give of Himself so that His life could be as God intended.

“Good Friday” can still be seen as a good day when you remember Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

While everything may not always feel good, God has a way of working things together for our good. 1 Peter 3:18 says, ”Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit.” Because He went through what He went through, it brought good to others, it brought life to us.

BECOMING whom God intends requires a commitment to sacrificial living and a desire to trust God even when things don’t make sense at the moment. BECOMING requires trust, do you trust God will never leave nor forsake you. Gods’ sacrifice of His son for us, should be the ultimate reminder that He did not bring you this far to leave you now. He wants you to be victorious and He wants you to BECOME everything that He intended. The question is will you make up in your mind that you are going to go for what He has for you, regardless of what tries to get in your way?

Lord, I thank you for another chance to BECOME better. Help me to see and learn your great wonders. Help me to reflect over who you are and what you’ve done. As I reflect show me the areas of my life where I need to reconsider some things. Teach me Lord, how to pursue your purpose and plans for my life. I pray for open eyes that see you clearly. I pray for wisdom, courage, and discipline to change and make adjustments. Guide me on this journey to BECOME whom you intended. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:28, 31-32
